This is the last full show with all original members.
(Although they did do one song at a Slade fan convention 25th anniversary party in 1991.)
If you are a Slade fan, this is a must have.
Big in the U.K. as a glam band, Slades attempt to find success in the U.S.A. in the ’70s and again in the ’80s didn’t quite work out despite ’80s hits such as "My Oh My" and "Run Runaway".
They were added to a tour with Ozzy Osbourne which was cancelled after a couple of gigs, when bassist Jim Lea collapsed in the dressing room after a performance. He was later diagnosed with Hepatitis C.
The band returned to the U.K. and did not tour again, mainly due to differences with in the band and problems in Holder’s private life. The original members split up in 1992 but the band reformed the following year as Slade II. The band has continued, with a number of line up changes, to the present day. They have now shortened the group name back to Slade.
The Slade page at www.crazeeworld.plus.com also noted that after this show, Jim became much worse, and Slade decided to cancel rest of the tour.
Slade were the opening act on Ozzy Osbourne’s Bark At The Moon tour.
They played their latest U.K. chart success "Run Runaway" peaking at number 7, and also had a hit in America reaching number 20, the crowd were rocking away with delight, they opened with the great
"Rock 'n' roll Preacher (Hallelujah I'm On Fire)" and finished with loud and rocky "Get Down And Get With It"
which the crowd certainly did, Slade also had success with their album
"Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply" in the U.S.A., reaching position 33,
So Slade obliged with 3 songs from the album "My Oh My", "Slam The Hammer Down"
and the number 20 American hit.
The album was an alternate version of "The Amazing Kamikaze Syndrome" which was released in the U.K. the preceding year.
A good time was had by all until Jim's illness.
This was the final appearance of what to me was the GREATEST band ever.
R.I.P. Slade
My sound rating for this is 7/10
Audio playing time approximately 40 minutes.
