"Burning In The Heat Of Love" was written by lead singer Noddy Holder and bassist Jim Lea and produced by Chas Chandler. The single was released via Barn Record Label on 7th April 1977.
This single failed to appear on the U.K. chart.
"Burning In The Heat Of Love" was issued as a non album single.

Background
The single was released to commercial failure, failing to enter the top 100 within the U.K., their 2nd single to do this since the band’s rise to fame. Like the previous single "Gypsy Roadhog", the single was banned for the lyrical content, although this time instead of a drug reference, the lyric was particularly risqué.
According to Record Mirror magazine, the single was released to tie in with the band's tour, beginning in May.

Recording
"Burning In The Heat Of Love" was released via Barn Record Label on 7th April 1977.
This was the 2nd time Slade used Barn record label to release a single.
Rovi of Allmusic spoke about a live version of the song in a review of the 1978 live album "Slade Alive Vol.2". The review stated "A couple of tracks that had been released as singles in 1977 and 1978 also get the treatment. "Burning in the Heat of Love" is a ripping song in the tradition of, well, Slade. (Check out Girlschool's good version of this song.)"

Release
"Burning In The Heat Of Love" was originally released on 7" vinyl.
Upon release, Record Mirror magazine gave the single 3 out of 5 stars stating "Slade are okay. But they're gone, for the 'You Really Got Me' guitar riff."
Although the U.K. sleeve had no artwork, separate artworks were each given to the Belgian, French, German and Italian releases.

Promotion
Like much of Slade's singles of the time, there was no promotional video although the band did perform the song on the German TV show Szene 77. The main form of promotion was the band's live touring across the U.K. as the song had become part of the band's U.K. live set around the time of release.
In recent years, the track has become increasingly popular, with the Szene 77 TV performance gaining approx 66,000 views on Youtube since mid 2007

Chart Performance
